Digital X-Rays

We offer one of the latest technological advances in dentistry with digital radiography. A wireless sensor is placed in the mouth and an x-ray is taken. Then, a computer generates an image in 30 seconds as opposed to the general 4-6 minute wait time for images taken on dental film.  Digital x-rays allow us to see everything we cannot see with our own eyes: cavities in between your teeth and health of bone. We can also examine the roots and nerves of teeth, diagnose lesions such as cysts and tumors, as well as assess damage when trauma occurs.

Digital x-rays can be enlarged on the computer so you can view them easily and discuss your treatment with more detail. Not only are they friendly to the environment, they require less radiation exposure.

Intraoral Camera

Mounted on the end of a pen-shaped instrument, the tiny intraoral camera can be used to provide detailed imaging of the teeth and gums. Digital images are captured instantly and shown on a monitor mounted near our treatment chairs where patient and dentist can view them together. Intraoral cameras can identify problems that may not stand out in a general examination, including cracks in your fillings or fractured teeth.

With high-quality images you learn about problem areas and better understand your treatment, helping you feel confident and comfortable before and during procedures. It also allows for faster diagnosis with less chair-time. Intraoral images from our cameras are an integral part of the dental care we offer our patients.

DIAGNOdent – Advanced Cavity Detection

Our DIAGNOdent laser allows our dentists to detect early decay that is hidden in tooth crevices long before it can be found with a dental instrument or appears on an x-ray. The DIAGNOdent laser reveals cavities at such an early stage, that in some cases, fluoride treatments alone can reverse the decay and rebuild your healthy tooth structure.

Air Abrasion for Drill-Free Fillings

We can treat your teeth without needles or the sound of the drill! A micro-air wand uses compressed air and fine particles to gently spray away decay (also know as Air Abrasion). Treatment is quick and does not require anesthesia. Drill-free dentistry enables us to remove very small areas of decay while conserving healthy tooth structure.

Benefits of Air Abrasion

• Eliminates the drill and injections

• Low noise, odorless

• Reduces or eliminates vibration, heat and pressure

• Enables treatment of decay at earlier stages

• Treatment is quicker than conventional methods

• Allows use of smaller fillings than conventional methods

• Less invasive

Did you know?

The widespread use of fluoride has made the surface of teeth so hard the process of dental decay has changed. Cavities are smaller and harder to diagnose. Preventive treatments – like fluoride rinses and dental sealants – have protected the surface of teeth so well, that when a tooth forms decay it starts deeper in the tooth.
